3. General requirements and prerequisites

6. Concluding provisions
This application (hereinafter referred to as “app”) is provided by R+V Krankenversicherung AG, Raiffeisenplatz 1, 65189 Wiesbaden, Germany, Commercial Register no. HRB 7094, Wiesbaden Local Court (hereinafter referred to as “R+ V”). It is a communication medium that allows you, as an insured person, to electronically submit doctors’/dentists’/hospital invoices and other health service-related documents, such as prescriptions and invoices for medications, therapeutic aids and medical aids.
The app has two mode of use options: Use without a “Meine R+V” customer portal user account (hereinafter referred to as “option 1”) or use in conjunction with your “Meine R+V” customer portal user account (hereinafter referred to as “option 2”). The “Meine R+V” customer portal terms and conditions of use apply to option 2.
R+V does not charge for the use of the app. The costs for mobile Internet are in accordance with your internet provider’s rates.
The app is used exclusively for the purpose of claims processing under your existing health insurance policy.
To use the app, you must be an insured person with a current R+V health insurance policy or registered under an occupational health insurance plan as an insured person through your employer. The app cannot be used to process documents relating to claims under a credit card provider’s foreign travel health insurance plan, the “R+V PrivatPolice” private policy or the “Kalenderjahrespolice” calendar year policy with the tariff JR.
With option 1 you have to provide your first name, last name, date of birth and insurance number to initialise the app (when you use the app for the first time). You will also be asked to provide your email address for registration and you will need to set a password for your user account.
With option 2 you will be asked to enter your user name and password for your “Meine R+V” account so that your policy data and information on submitted documents can be displayed. In order to use option 2 you will need access to a “Meine R+V” customer portal user account. If you do not yet have a “Meine R+V” user account, you can set one up during the registration process.
R+V expressly reserves the right to request the originals of scanned documents or copies of the documents with the other service provider’s original reimbursement endorsement (e.g. benefits office or statutory health insurance company). Please therefore always retain scanned documents.
The technical requirements for use of the app can be found in the app’s information section (e.g. FAQs, user agreements and privacy policy). To perform certain functions the app needs to access your device, e.g. the camera.
Whenever a specific feature or function on your device is accessed for the first time, the app will ask for your permission. You can disable the app permissions at any time with the usual mechanisms of your device’s operating system platform. However, disabling a permission may result in you not being able to use the specific function or feature, or the app as a whole (for example, if the app has no camera access, it cannot scan documents).
Internet connectivity is necessary for the transmission of data (mobile Internet or Wi-Fi).
R+V, its legal representatives and vicarious agents shall not be liable for any material or immaterial damages arising in conjunction with the use or non-use of the app, any viruses or malware contained in the app, or any loss of data. This exclusion does not apply to claims for damages to life, limb or health , as well as to losses resulting from a deliberate or grossly negligent breach of obligation by R+V, its legal representatives or its vicarious agents.
Please make sure that the data you enter during the app initialisation process cannot be seen by third parties. Please also note that misuse of your data by third parties, e.g. if your smartphone or other devices with which you use the app are stolen, cannot be ruled out. We therefore recommend that you additionally protect these devices with a PIN code lock. R+V does not accept any liability for misuse.
Data is transferred from the app to R+V via an encrypted, state-of-the-art data connection.
The app has a document archive. When you submit documents to R+V, the documents and the related information (including date of submission, image files and, if applicable, the document name you have assigned and your insurance number) are stored locally on your mobile device in encrypted form. This ensures clarity and traceability in claims processing.
The scanned documents are encrypted with a key generated in the app with both option 1 and option 2.
Since the contents of the document archive are device-specific and irretrievable in case the app is uninstalled, the app cache is deleted or the device is replaced or lost, the document archive is not suitable for long-term archiving of your health documents.
It is not possible to download the scanned or uploaded documents. Please therefore store your documents in a personal archive.
The personal data you enter when registering to use option 1 (insurance number and date of birth) are stored in encrypted form in the app. This data is always sent to R+V via the app when documents are submitted to enable data reconciliation.
With option 2, data (contract data, email address) are retrieved from your online file in the “Meine R+V” customer portal and displayed via a secure and encrypted connection. Your insurance number and tariff name(s) are stored in the app.
The transmission history with a list of the submission processes is stored in encrypted form with both mode of use options.
The app contains contact details for getting in touch with R+V. You can use these to send us your suggestions and questions about the app or to let us know about any problems you have encountered. Emails are not encrypted by the app.
Please do not send invoices or other personal data relating to your insurance policy to the email address provided in the app.
Detailed information about data privacy and data processing are provided in the separate privacy policy for the R+V Gesundheit app.
In particular, the terms and conditions of the end user license agreement for licensed applications of the respective operating system provider apply to the app. You can find the terms and conditions for iOS at: www.apple.com and the terms and conditions for Android at https://play.google.com/intl/de_de/about/play-terms.html.
R+V expressly reserves the right to modify, supplement or delete the app in whole or in part without separate notice, and to temporarily or permanently suspend publication.
R+V is not willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings involving a consumer dispute resolution body in connection with this user relationship.
